Come meet and hang out with your fellow otaku! For seasoned anime fans and newbies alike. We'll watch a different anime each month, do fun stuff, and eat snacks!
This month's Anime: Fruits Basket (2001) - It was a close race but Fruits Basket (2001) won by a narrow margin.
Summary: After her mother's death, Tohru Honda finds herself living with the Sohma family consisting of three cousins: Yuki, the 'prince charming' of their high school, Kyo the hot headed, short tempered outcast, and Shigure the mischievous novelist. Tohru finds out the Sohma family secret that when a member is hugged by the opposite gender or they are tired out, they turn into one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. After Tohru enters their lives, life at the Sohma house will never be the same again.
Activities: We will be celebrating Tanbata (Star Festival) by adding wishes to our Tanbata tree, as well as making origami stars.
As always we'll have snacks, but we'll also have konpeito (a star-shaped, traditional Japanese candy made from sugar) to celebrate as well.
We'll also be awarding the winner of the Mascot Contest their prize. In addition to the prize, the winner will have their design re-drawn by our staff and used on some of our future anime club materials.
Valparaiso Public Library is the largest branch of the Porter County Public Library System and sits just one block off of downtown Valparaiso. It was first developed in 1905, renovated in 1916, and demolished in 1994 in favor of the building in its place today. Acting as a pillar of communities both local and county-wide, the library offers an extensive collection of materials to its patrons, a wide variety of programming, large study rooms that can accommodate 100 people, and the Larry Clark Genealogy Center, which has been a staple in Porter County for almost 60 years.
